Intro to Glass Fusing
Learn, test, and create your way to confident glass fusing in this two session workshop.
Workshop Description
This two session workshop, emphasis is on creating a set of test tiles so that the user will have a better understanding of the glass fusing process. Fusing glass safety will be discussed, and all PPE equipment will be provided. Students will also become familiar with using a strip cutter, circle cutter, and other hand tools. In the first session, each student will create a set of test tiles that will cover the following topics ✨ Volume Control and Bubbles – 2 tile projects (4 x 4 each) ✨ Working with accessory glass 2 tile projects (4 x 4 each) ✨ The effect of Heat on Glass – 2 tile projects (2 x 4 each) ✨ Colour Blending – 1 tile projects (6 x 6 each) plus an assortment of small scrap tests In the second session there will be a discussion period on what we learned from our test tiles from the previous week. Students will then design and create a 8 x 8 dish using that knowledge gained. There is no prerequisite to this class, however we do recommend the Understanding Glass Fusing or have a basic knowledge of glass kiln operations.
